Naturestrip renovation – Permit application

You can use this form to request a permit to undertake planting on your nature strip.

Before you begin, please ensure you have read and understood the nature strip guidelines. You will need to agree to follow these to be granted an automated permit.

Once you’ve received your permit, you can start your works.

Your permit does not expire.

All 26 guidelines must be followed. You’ll be required to fix the nature strip under the Amenity Local Law if you do not follow all of the guidelines.

Do you agree, after renovating your nature strip, to maintain it to the standards outlined in these guidelines? * Required
Council has the authority to remove any plantings or works that affect public safety or public services. In most cases, Council will inform the landholder first and they’ll have the chance to fix the nature strip. However, Council reserves the right to remove any features that are a significant and imminent threat to public safety, street tree health and/or to undertake urgent works without prior consultation or warning.

After the nature strip renovation, you must agree to maintain the nature strip to the standards outlined in these guidelines. Based on your answer, you cannot receive an automated permit. Please reach out to biodiversity@boroondara to discuss your application.
The Nature strip guidelines do not apply to nature strips along arterial roads. Do you confirm that your nature strip is not along an arterial road? * Required
You can check if your nature strip is along an arterial road using the interactive map of Department of Transport and Planning managed roads.

Unfortunately, we are unable to approve any works on your nature strip. Arterial roads are roads that are managed by the Department of Transport and Planning and provide the principal routes for the movement of people and goods. If you wish to undertake planting on your nature strip in such locations, please contact metro_workswithinroadreserve@roads.vic.gov.au
